Robert Mallett – Chairman of the Board of Directors

Robert L. Mallett is an Advisor to boards and senior executives looking to position organizations for strategic growth and effectiveness.

 

Served as CEO of Rabin Martin, a health consultancy within the Omnicom family of companies.

 

Served as CEO of Africare (now PanAfricare based in Senegal), a key development organization, and served on the Board of Directors for seven years and as President and CEO at Accordia Global Health Foundation.

 

Executive Vice President and General Counsel for the Public & Senior Markets Group at United Healthcare, the largest private healthcare insurer in the United States.

 

Served as Senior Vice President of Worldwide Public Affairs and Policy at Pfizer Inc and as President of the Pfizer Foundation. He was also an officer of the company.

 

Private practice at international law firms in the United States

 

Served in former President Bill Clinton’s administration as Acting Secretary and Deputy Secretary of the U.S. Department of Commerce.

 

Mr. Mallett holds a J.D. from Harvard Law School and a bachelors degree in Political Science from Morehouse College.

Ryan Gadapee – Secretary

Ryan Gadapee’s practice focuses primarily on the representation of domestic and international insurers and reinsurers including captives, reciprocals, and risk retention groups. Ryan’s practice includes representing clients in regulatory, legislative, transactional, and general corporate matters.

 

His diverse experience includes his role as general counsel of a Florida-based property insurer during its initial growth and expansion phases and time with a national carrier where he had primary responsibility for the litigated claims arising out of the historic 2004-2005 Florida hurricane seasons.

 

He has experience in creating and maintaining policy forms and underwriting manuals; claims handling and defense; and ongoing corporate and regulatory compliance. Ryan was a frequent participant and representative to industry associations and events, including significant experience with legislative matters. He was recognized for his ability to foster relationships with key legislators, regulators, and stakeholders from all sides in order to achieve the goals of his clients.

 

Mr. Gadapee holds a J.D. from Vermont Law School and a bachelor of science degree in Forest

Resources and Conservation.

Moses Kumar – General Secretary of the General Council on Finance and Administration

Appadurai Moses Rathan Kumar is the General Secretary and Treasurer for the General Council on Finance and Administration of The United Methodist Church (GCFA). With over 32 years of experience, he was elected the General Secretary of the General Council on Finance and

Administration (GCFA) in August, 2008.

 

Prior to accepting this role, Moses Kumar served for eight years as the Treasurer and Executive Director of Administrative Ministries for the Eastern Pennsylvania Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church. Kumar also worked at Palmer Theological Seminary in Wynnewood, Pennsylvania culminating in four years of service as the Vice President for Finance and Operations.

 

As general secretary of GCFA, Moses Kumar serves as the chief executive of the agency. The Book of Discipline, ¶¶ 801-823, outlines the roles and responsibilities of GCFA and its areas of ministry to the Church. Kumar possesses, and has exemplified, innovative vision for ministry in the services

provided by GCFA in increasing its responsibilities to the people of The United Methodist Church.

 

Kumar holds a Master of Business Administration from Eastern University in St. Davids, Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Commerce from Madras Christian College in India. He is married to Rev. Felicia Kumar and they have two adult daughters, four grandsons, and one granddaughter.

Bishop Marcus Matthews

Bishop Marcus Matthews is a retired bishop of The United Methodist Church, having served from 2004-2016.

Bishop Matthews is a former Executive Secretary of the Council of Bishops of The United Methodist Church (UMC), a position he held from September 1, 2016 to August 2020.  Previously, Bishop Matthews served as the Resident Bishop of the Baltimore-Washington Conference from 2012-2016.

Bishop Matthews holds a bachelor's degree from South Carolina State College (1968); a master of divinity (MDiv) from Wesley Theological Seminary (1974); and a doctor of ministry (DMin) from New York Theological Seminary (1981).  He was ordained as a deacon by Bishop Paul Hardin, Jr. and he was ordained as an elder by Bishop James K. Matthew in the Baltimore-Washington Conference.

Bishop Matthews is married to Barbara Walker Matthews and they have two children, Jaime S. Matthews and Marci Matthews, and five grandchildren. His interests include movies, reading, jogging, and playing with his grandchildren.
